Finding and retrieving data
Data held within COWRIE Data Archive is available for data download or data request. Where data and information can be made available online it can be downloaded. Metadata can be searched and data returned from the SEARCH For requests that are generally too large for download a data request service is operated. Data and information retrieval is based on the searching the metadata inventories, using the textual or map-based interface. You must register before you can download data and information. Once you have found the data and information that you want, and potentially selected the time period of the surveys for which you want data (for selected time series datasets) you can add them to your 'basket' or refine your search to reduce or extend the records that you want. For each record retrieved you can view the metadata. This will tell you whether you can download the data and the restrictions on use (if any) and the copyright conditions. Where a 'data view' has been provided with the metadata you can see what the processed data and information looks like. For example, this might be a plot of ship movements or map of bird densities. Not all dataset have generated views as these tend to be restricted to geospatial data. To search and retrieve data: Getting HelpIf you cannot find the data that you want you may wish to visit other inventories available for marine data (links). Alternatively you can contact the Data Officer who may be able to assist. |
