COWRIE Round II Data requirements
Under the terms of the Round II lease the management of data generated during the tenancy of the offshore renewables prospects the Crown Estate requires that data including metadata are provided to the Commissioners. Terms of Lease. COWRIE has been established to collate, manage and to make publicly accessible this data and information from Round II Developers. The COWRIE Data Technical Working Group is providing advice and support to Developers submitting data and information under the lease agreement. The approach and programme for data management is set out in the Data and Information Management Plan (DIMP). The submission of data and information also extends to those groups undertaking research studies under the COWRIE assisted programmes. Key issues for this data collation and management:
Does all data, information and metadata need to be submitted? The terms of the lease cover all data and information. Further advice may become available to help you in defining what data is submitted. At the outset data from exploration, installation, monitoring during operation and decommissioning is covered by this requirement. Data and information means raw and processed data, technical data reports on surveys and the resulting EIA and monitoring reports. When does data need to be submitted?Data and information are due to be submitted by all Round II developers. COWRIE is providing further support and advice to developers to establish realistic timescales. The first target for data submission is the provision of metadata - 'data about the data'. This will help both the Developers and COWRIE understand the scale and scope of the data and information holdings subject to later submission. Is there help and guidance available?Yes, COWRIE appreciates that Developers are at different stages and have differing technical capacity to submit metadata, data and information. These pages provide help and also links to white papers on specific aspects of data and information and other useful links and data portals. White papers will be developed through other research undertaken by COWRIE data technical working group and these will be available to registered users. Register as a Developer to access additional support and information. For researchers under the COWRIE environmental programmes advice will be provided and terms for submission will form part of the tender process. What do developers / data submitters need to do now?If you are a Developer of a Round II site (list of these sites and names of tenants) or a lead researcher on a COWRIE sponsored programme please consult the pages about submitting metadata. Also, you should Register to access additional support, to receive updates to the schedule and to access online metadata submission tools. |
