Submitting survey data and reports
COWRIE data management is a facility for lodging metadata, data and information under the terms of the Crown Estate's offshore lease. Currently this is focused on Round II developments, but the system can accommodate Round I resources and you are encouraged to submit these as well. Submission of data is restricted to Crown Estate leased developers and their consultants. COWRIE does not seek data from other marine survey programmes and other data archives may be more appropriate for these records. (see the links for other archive centres). Submitting data, information and metadata can all be undertaken online. The guidance documents and links below will help you in this process. They provide advice on the data standards, metadata and file formats and documentation of records. Not all these guides have been produced by COWRIE and where other national bodies (e.g. ICES, MESH) are providing guidance on data submission to archives these are referenced here as 'best practice'. If you need help please contact the GeoData Data Officer. General and Submission Guidance This provides general information on the metadata, data and information that Crown Estate's requires and the data supply and formatting:
Thematic and Processing Guidance A wide range of data and information format advice is available for other sources. For the data and information typically collated and captured for offshore renewables the data survey and submission standards are presented in a QuickView. When should data and information be submitted?Data and information from studies, surveys and reporting will follow the submission of the metadata that relates to these resources. Data and information can be submitted at any time. Public access to data will follow submission of the consent application. Any restrictions to data should be noted within the accessibility metadata. |
